was the
second ship of
the United States Navy to be named for Albuquerque, New Mexico. The contract to build her was awarded to the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics Corporation in Groton, Connecticut on 31 October 1973 and her keel was laid down on 27 Dec. 1979. She was launched 13 March 1982 and commissioned on 21 May 1983.
The cover is cancelled with a well-struck pictorial postmark on 21 May 2003 at Groton, CT 06340 and is franked with a 37c 'Old Glory Flag' stamp.
Overall cover condition is very good. The cover is a standard No. 6-3/4x3-5/8". The blue around the edge is part of the background.
