    Description

    USS IOWA BB-61 United States Navy Battleship first day cover postmarked DCP
    from Washington, DC on Sept 2, 2008.
    Color photo of battleship on cachet #1532 by Alvin Eckert, USCS #9964.
    The cover was prepared on a un-gummed, archive quality envelope.
    Cover with a DIY matte and 5x7 frame, makes a fine gift!
    USS Iowa: the lead vessel in her WW II Iowa Class of battleships, she
    served in WW II, Korea and in President Reagan's 600 ship fleet, 1984-1990.
    She rested in reserve for ten years in the Suisun Reserve
    Fleet in Benicia, CA and has now been opened by a veterans group as a
    museum ship in San Pedro. She was opened the the public on 4 July 2012.
    Cover franked with a 42 cent Iowa State Flag stamp # 4291 (FDOI).
