    Description

    USS Kamehameha SSN-642 submarine SEAL transport conversion cover with a postmark from Mare Island, CA on July 21, 1993. Color drawing printed on Saginaw Chapter cachet #101 by Capt. Bob Rawlins USN, USCS. Cover franked with a 29 cent tulip stamp #2524.
    This, a 425 foot long missile submarine, was named for the famous Hawaiian King. The vessel was commissioned on 10 December 1965 and her home-port was Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. She was formally SSBN-642 and converted to a dry-deck shelter/ swimmer delivery platform in 1993.
