    USS Shenandoah: On September 3, 1925 the 680 foot rigid Navy airship
    encountered a severe storm and crashed into the ground in Ava, Ohio.
    It was the first USN zeppelin type lighter than air craft used by the
    naval forces and her overall lift was decreased when the navy switched from
    hydrogen to helium after the Hindenburg disaster. The airship program
    continued into the 1930s but most of the craft were not practical
    for recon efforts especially in bad weather.
